Letter to the Editor

Obama offers country needed new direction

Editor, the Record:

We are again being asked to vote for a presidential candidate. Some say experience is paramount. However, some of the more experienced candidates have already dropped out.

The office of president is a unique position. Anyone elected to that position experiences on-the-job training. The smart person surrounds himself with the best and brightest when choosing his cabinet. Bush went wrong choosing loyalty over ability. It was always his way or the highway.

In regards to experience I do not feel that living in the White House for eight years qualifies unless you are counting on a co-presidency with Bill Clinton. I feel a better characteristic to look for in a candidate is honesty, someone who doesn't occasionally misspeak, ie the trip to Kosovo under gunfire. This is why I urge everyone to vote for Obama.

Our country desperately needs a new direction, not more of the same.
